Vice President & Tax Director

Professional Experience:
Al is a vice president and tax director and leads the firm’s tax practice. With close to 30 years of experience, he has worked with many of the New England market's largest corporate clients in the areas of federal, state, and international taxation; mergers and acquisitions; strategic dispositions, and structuring transactions. Al is a member of the firm’s transaction advisory team.

Al has worked with clients to analyze tax accounting methods, tax minimization strategies, and to create and implement structures to minimize federal, state, and international taxes. He has significant experience in accounting for income taxes, and heads up a number of the firm’s significant FAS 109 engagements. He also has extensive experience in the area of tax controversies, representing many clients before the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities in examinations and at the appeals level. As a member of the firm’s executive committee, Al helps to lead the strategic direction of the firm.

Al was formerly a tax partner in the Boston office of Ernst and Young (E & Y). Before joining E & Y in June 2002, Al was with Arthur Andersen for 23 years, serving most recently as the partner in charge of the New England tax practice. Al was a member of the tax merger and acquisition group at both E&Y and Arthur Andersen, and was a member of Andersen’s accounting for income taxes specialty group.

Pennsylvania State University: Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a Concentration in Accounting
