Professional Experience:
Richard is president and co-founder of Caturano and Company, New England’s largest regional full-service CPA, consulting, and wealth management firm and one of the top 40 CPA firms in the country. As managing partner and a member of the firm’s executive committee, Richard has led Caturano and Company through a period of 400% growth over the last five years. In 2008, the firm was named #28 on the Boston Globe’s “Top 100 Places to Work” list and “#1 Best Place to Work For” by Vault Accounting Guide. The firm was also named one of the “Best Places to Work” in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal for three consecutive years. Richard was named by Accounting Today as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Accounting” for four consecutive years and was recognized by Winning Workplaces as one of the “Best Bosses” nationwide.
Richard is very active in advancing the accounting industry. He was appointed to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AIPCA’s) Executive Committee for Private Companies Practice Section in 2001, served for two years, and was then elected chairman for a three year term that ended in October 2006. He is a member of the AICPA’s Management Service Division, the AICPA Council, the AICPA Special Committee on Mobility, was appointed the Chairman of the Finance Committee, and recently began to serve a three year term on the AICPA’s Board of Directors. Richard served on the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) Board of Directors from 2001-2005. In 2005, he served a one-year term as MSCPA president.
Richard currently serves on the North American Regional Advisory Board and is one of 15 directors appointed from member firms from around the world to serve on the Board of Directors for Baker Tilly International. Baker Tilly International is one of the world’s top ten accounting and business advisory services associations focused on serving the global needs of growing multi-national enterprises; comprised of 145 independent member firms with 509 offices in 110 countries.
Throughout his career, Richard has specialized in management consulting and business valuation services for a wide variety of industries. In addition to his day to day responsibilities as President and CEO, Richard provides consulting services to other professional service firms and is a frequent speaker on issues relating to firm management including strategic planning, outrageous benefits, internal communications, rapid growth, and ensuring the future of the accounting industry.
